DoGain’s project titled “Industrialization of Uncooled 980 nm Laser Chips and Micro-Modules for AI Data Communication” has been successfully selected, earning authoritative recognition as a major scientific and technological achievement.
Driven by the explosive growth of global AI computing power, market demand for coherent optical modules and data center interconnections keeps expanding, creating massive growth opportunities for miniaturized, low-power communication pump light sources. For a long time, high-end single-mode pump devices have relied heavily on overseas imports, resulting in a prominent supply shortage.
DoGain’s selected project, Industrialization of Uncooled 980 nm Laser Chips and Micro-Modules for AI Data Communication, precisely addresses the core rigid demands of industrial development. Leveraging the company’s fully self-developed IDM industrial chain advantages, DoGain has achieved full-chain technological breakthroughs covering chip design, epitaxial growth, wafer processing, micro-packaging and reliability verification. The team overcame two major technical challenges: high-temperature performance and long-term reliability of uncooled solutions. It has successfully completed the R&D and industrialization of uncooled 980 nm single-mode laser chips and ultra-compact 3PIN modules, alongside stable mass production.
This product series has now been commercially deployed in batches across optical communication and optical sensing sectors, with continuous production line capacity expansion. Boasting stable mass delivery capabilities, the products are fully capable of meeting the surging and explosive market demands arising from the AI data communication track.

This product operates stably across a wide temperature range of 0 to 85°C without TEC cooling, featuring core merits including compact size, low power consumption, high stability and long service life. It has passed stringent authoritative reliability certification per Telcordia GR-468 standard, with zero failures after 8,000 hours of high-temperature and high-current accelerated aging test. Its core performance reaches internationally advanced standards.
Widely adopted in key scenarios such as coherent optical modules, AI data center interconnections, miniaturized optical amplifiers and intelligent fiber optical sensing, the product perfectly aligns with the industrial trend of miniaturization, integration and low energy consumption in optical communications. It facilitates the independent, controllable upgrading of the optical communication and AI data communication industrial chains.

The fiber-coupled module delivers a reliable output power of over 300 mW, fully meeting the stringent requirements of miniaturized EDFAs for high-gain, low-noise pump sources.

Wavelength locking is realized across the full dynamic range of operating current and temperature. This ensures the pump wavelength stays precisely aligned with the absorption peak under complex working conditions, greatly boosting the overall efficiency of the amplification system.

Benefiting from the uncooled design, the module’s size and power consumption are reduced by more than 40% compared with conventional solutions, making it an ideal option for high-density integrated applications.
